Please join HCCC for HANDS-ON HOUSTON on Saturday, October 5th, and get ready for some paper-cutting fun! Kirigami is the creative art of folding and cutting paper. Using this beautiful and intricate technique, participants will learn how to create spooky paper cut-outs of a spider and spider web for Halloween decorations.

Before or after the activity, stop by the resident artist studios to meet Paris Jomadiao, an artist who creates paper-cut works of art, and fiber artist, Delaney Smith, who also uses paper in her work. In the main gallery, check out the new exhibition, SPRAWL, to see Chaos City by paper-cutting artist, Beatrice Coron.

HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free craft-activity open house on the first Saturday of every month. Each month, a teaching artist demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. We provide the materials and you provide the creativity! Families and children of all ages are welcome, and materials are provided. This program supports HCCC’s mission to advance education about the process, product and history of craft.
