This month, please join HCCC to create a beautiful beaded wire ornament for the holidays. Participants will learn how to create an ornament by stringing beads on wire, wrapping the wire around a balloon, and then popping the balloon to reveal a decorative sphere. Kids can choose beads in a variety of colors and sizes to personalize their ornaments.

The activity is inspired by the contemporary jewelry of Asher Gallery artist, Tana Acton. Please join HCCC for a trunk show of Tana’s work at the Asher Gallery November 20 and 22, 2014.

HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held the first Saturday of every month. Each month, a teaching artist demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Families and children of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11 AM and 3 PM and participate in a 15-20 minute activity. Materials are provided. This program supports HCCC’s mission to advance education about the process, product and history of craft.

Please Note: Hands-on activities are held outside, in the Craft Garden. In the event of heavy rain, the activities will be cancelled.
