In celebration of the upcoming 12th Annual Empty Bowls Houston event at HCCC, join us in creating small, colorful pinch bowls. Volunteers from the Houston Polymer Clay Guild will teach participants how to combine different colors of polymer clay to create a swirly “marbled” effect. Use this colorful clay to create your own handmade pinch bowl. Use stamps and cutters to add dimension and design to your creation. Visit our current exhibitions and the Craft Garden while you wait for your bowl to harden in our ovens (about 40 minutes), or learn how you can bake your bowl at home. Join a short public tour (departing from the front gallery every 30 minutes), or pick up a children’s activity guide and explore the exhibitions on your own.

HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held the first Saturday of every month. Each month, a teaching artist demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Families and children of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11 AM and 3 PM and participate in a 15-20 minute activity. Materials are provided. This program supports HCCC’s mission to advance education about the process, product and history of craft. More information at https://crafthouston.org/learn/education-overview/.
