Kick off your Halloween celebrations by exploring the art of pumpkin carving at HCCC’s fall Craft Social.

Bring your own pumpkin to carve or decorate at the event. Watch a live demonstration by local pumpkin-carving expert Hayley McSwain, and learn helpful tips to carve your own hair-raising gourd, while you enjoy a crisp fall beer. All carving tools and materials are provided.

Hayley McSwain is a Museum Educator with a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently the Intergenerational Learning Specialist at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, working with visitors of all ages at the museum. Hayley has had a passion for pumpkin carving since a very young age, carving the family jack-o-lantern every Halloween. She is excited to share her tips and tricks for carving the greatest pumpkin this Fall!

Held quarterly, Craft Socials are casual evening events designed to emphasize experimentation, curiosity, and innovation. Visitors are encouraged to drop by and participate in a night of making and learning about contemporary craft. All events are free and on a first-come first-served basis. Capacity is limited. The program is for adults only (ages 18 and up).

Craft beer is generously provided by Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co., and materials are sponsored by Art Supply on Main Street.
