When you see the face of a child engaged in creating their own piece of art during one of our monthly Hands-on Houston events at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC), it’s impossible not to wonder if they will one day develop into an exhibiting artist of tomorrow.

Our immensely popular Hands-on Houston series, the Center’s flagship education program, offers hands-on craft activities to hundreds of children and families from across the city, connecting them with the art in our galleries or the resident artists in our studios. Its popularity inspired a new evening program, Craft Social, engaging adult audiences in craft-making activities in support of lifelong learning. One recent evening combined spice tasting with a natural dyeing activity, featuring material harvested from the Center’s own Craft Garden.

HCCC is one of the few organizations in the country and the only one in our region dedicated to contemporary craft. We have experienced tremendous growth and made a significant impact on the craft world in the last few years, playing an expanded role as a hub for craftspeople in the region, an incubator for emerging talent, and a provider of innovative and effective educational programming for Houston.

But we can’t do it without you and your support. Your gift ensures that we continue to grow our outreach to a diverse audience and provide equal access to innovative arts programs—always free of charge—in the years to come.

This year, we are extremely proud to announce that our Board of Directors believes so strongly in our organization’s work and its impact on the community that they have agreed to match, dollar for dollar, the first $75,000 raised or pledged on or before December 31, 2017.

We sincerely hope you will not only contribute to our Annual Fund but make your donation go twice as far by doing so before this year-end deadline.

With appreciation,

Perry A. Price
